Our Master

SAMARTH SADGURU MAHATHMA SHRI RAMCHANDRAJI MAHARAJ (BABUJI) OF SHAHAJAHANPUR (U.P).
Our Master Shri Ram Chandraji Maharaj was born on Sunday the 30th of April, 1899 at 07.26 am (Vikram samvat 1856, Saka era 1821, Baisakh Badi Panchami – samay 4 gharhi 55 Pal) at Shahjahanpur, (U.P.), India.
The city of Shahjahanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has the good fortune of being his birth place. The Hindu Kayastha family to which he belongs, has a great historic past, and its history can be traced to the times of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar.
Shri Badri Prasad, the revered father of the Master was born at Budaun on the 12th of July, 1867. After a brilliant academic career, he started legal practice in 1892 at Shahjahanpur. He soon rose to be the leading lawyer of his time and became famous and was appointed special Magistrate 1st Class. He was a great scholar of ancient History, and his work titled ‘Mushrif-Ul-Tarikh Hind’ in Urdu, still in manuscript, is of rare value. His research on Lord Krishna's lineage, written in Urdu, but unpublished, is also very valuable.
His mother was a pious lady and always devoted to God. She taught him at every stage of his life the lesson—“Be honest; do not steal.” The effect of her training was that this became part and parcel of his living.
Since childhood he was inclined to do pooja ( worship) and from the age of nine he felt a kind of thirst for reality and he remained confused and perplexed just like a man drowned in water. Then he started reading the Bhagavad Gita, but it did not bring to his view the condition he was craving for.
At the age of fourteen he developed a peculiar instinct that he could know the character of a man by the smell of his perspiration. At the age of fifteen or sixteen he became interested in philosophy and read philosophical books like Mill’s Utilitarianism. To maintain his originality he developed his own thinking by keeping aside all the books.
During his schooling, he was a good hockey player and was captain of the class team. Also the teachers used to love him very much and always extended their hands to help him whenever required. He used to predict some things during his boyhood and which is come true.
At the age of nineteen he got married to a girl named Bhagavathi at Mathura and she died in the later half of 1949.
He reached the lotus feet of his Master Samarth Sadguru Mahathma Shri Ramachandraji Maharaj of Fathehgarh (U.P.) on 3rd June 1922 to receive transmission from Him for the first time. He sincerely took up the method of meditation after he passed the S.S.L.C. and Matriculation examination and practiced it with great love and devotion. His immense faith in his Master and unfailing will to achieve ‘layavastha’ in his Master made him to decent the grace of his Master to cross the different stages of spirituality and to swim in the ocean of infinity.
On the morning of the 15th of August 1931 he found an utmost force or power both within and outside him which, his inner voice assured him was bestowed by his Master. His Master had gone into the state of mahasamadhi on the on pervious night of 14th August 1931.
For him there was no God other than his Master, and Master alone. He went on with it regardless of all other things, till he reached the level expressed by his Master in the following words in a dream, when he left the mortal frame:
“I became ‘thee’ and Thou ‘I”. Now none can say that I am other than thee or that, thou art other than me”.
He improved the system of Raja Yoga introduced by his Guru, which later came to be known as ‘Sahaj Marg Sadhana.’ Now the system followed presents an easy and natural path for the attainment of the Ultimate.
‘Sahaj Marg’ does not advise the cruder methods which are hardly practicable in the routine life of man. Under the ‘Sahaj Marg’ system of spiritual training, the action of the senses is regulated in a natural way so as to bring them to their original state, i.e., just as it was when it assumed the human form for the first time. Not only this, but the lower vrittis (modifications) which are working independently are subjected to the control of super- consciousness. Hence, their perverse action is stopped. Thus the higher centers come under the charge of the divine center, and in this way the whole system begins to get Divinised.
Shri Ram Chandra Mission was established at Shahajahanpur (U.P.) on 31st March 1945 in the name of his Guru. Slowly it started attracting the real seekers from everywhere.
The “Special personality” who descended to the earth with a purpose of completing the nature's work also served the entire humanity with his divine love, and with his expertise in spiritual training to make the real seekers to attain the ultimate goal of human life, left his physical veiling on 19th April 1983.
Still he takes the complete responsibility of the real seekers to attain their goal of life. And it will continue forever.
