POOJYA SRI RAGHAVENDRA RAO (APPA)
OF RAICHUR, KARNATAKA
Poojya Sri Raghavendra Rao affectionately known as Appa was born on 19th March 1925 in Pathapalli, Narayanpet, Andhra Pradesh. His father’s name was Sri Kishan Rao and mother was Smt Venkamma . He married to his niece Smt Draupathi Bai and has three sons and four daughters.
He completed his graduation in science and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and joined Bidar Government Polytechnic College as lecturer. He served in the state of Karnataka at various places like Ballari, Gulbarga and Hassan. He also worked as Principal of Government Polytechnic Raichur and finally retired as Deputy Director of Technical Education Bangalore in the year 1982.
The humble seeker Sri Raghavendra Rao met the Samarth Sadguru Sri Ramachandraji Maharaj on 22nd October 1955 at Shajahanpur at his residence.
The first meeting turned out to be the eternal love and the seeker’s self was transformed by the Great Master as the Master Himself. Master wrote in His first letter to Sri Raghavendra Rao after his visit to Shahajahanpur, that “Many people come to see me but go without seeing me but you have taken me along with you.”
He declared to one and all that ‘Sahaj Marg’ is the only surest means of becoming a true being and this is the only goal to be pursued. He wrote many books on Sahaj Marg philosophy like Panoramic view of Sahaj Marg, Call of a fellow traveler etc... He travelled widely, attended satsangs at various places and also visited foreign countries and guided the Abhyasis.
Last satsang he attended was at Raichur Ashram on 19th March 2006 on his 81st birthday. He left his mortal body on 10th April 2006 at his residence in Raichur.
He became the personification of the method, the process, the essence of practice and proved the efficacy of the method and Master. The noble soul called Sri Raghavendra Rao remained as a sincere seeker and disciple of the great Master till last breath of his life. He continued to remain so even in the brighter world along with the Master.
